Priorities

Fully Fund Our
Public Schools

As a proud product of Mecklenburg County's public education system, I know firsthand how crucial it is to make sure our students have access to a quality public education.

Unfortunately, North Carolina legislators have betrayed our public schools by slashing funding and instead, promoting unregulated private school vouchers that leave public schools and rural communities behind. Our teachers are overworked, underpaid, and aren’t getting adequate support.

Regardless of zip code, our children deserve a public education system that allows them to succeed and build a future for themselves.

Families are paying more for nearly everything, while paychecks struggle to keep up. At the same time, state lawmakers continue to shortchange Mecklenburg County, failing to return our fair share of state funding.
That forces local governments to fill the gaps in our schools, law enforcement, and essential services. And too often, Mecklenburg County homeowners are left paying the difference through higher property taxes.
I’ll fight to bring our tax dollars home, fully fund the services our communities depend on, and ease the growing burden on working families.

Strengthen
Public Safety

Public safety has always been a top priority for me. I’m proud of the work we’ve done on the Matthews Town Council to support our first responders.

I have strongly supported the new first responder training facility being built at CPCC’s Levine Campus, which will help prepare the next generation of police officers, firefighters, and emergency personnel. I have also supported the construction of Matthews Fire Station 3 to strengthen emergency response and keep pace with the needs of our growing community.

I’m honored to have earned the endorsement of the Charlotte Fraternal Order of Police, reflecting my commitment to those who put their lives on the line to keep us safe.

Accountability is at the core of what I believe public service should be. Elected officials should be visible, accessible, and responsive to the people they represent.

When someone calls or walks into the office, they deserve the respect of being heard. Serving constituents is not an extra part of the job, it is THE job.

Leadership means being out in the community on a regular basis, listening and engaging directly with people. It means staying connected to their day to day realities, making sure their concerns are reflected in the decisions we make, and standing in front of the people you serve, even when you make a decision they disagree with, and being willing to answer for it.
