About Ken
Background
Ken McCool is a lifelong resident of Matthews, a proud graduate of Providence High School, and runs his own small business- Ken's Sports Cards and Collectibles.
Growing up, his family didn't talk about politics around the dinner table. However, when he was in high school, Representative Tricia Cotham came to his high school to talk about local politics and he knew that was what he wanted to do. After going to school for journalism, he moved back to Matthews to run for the Town Council.
Now, he's running against Cotham to fight for a better District 105 that its residents deserve.
On Matthews Town Council
First elected at just 21, he became one of the youngest elected officials in NC history. He served 3 terms including one as the Mayor Pro Tem.
He focused on delivering real results such as expanding housing options, improving public safety, and securing the biggest investment in town parks in decades. He also helped bring the Hendrick Advanced Manufacturing Campus to Matthews, creating new jobs and long-term economic opportunity for the region.
